Ron Cooper bio
Ron Cooper is a travel, documentary and portrait photographer based in Denver, Colorado. He travels extensively in pursuit of images that reflect local cultures and people. His current body of work, called "Celebrating Humanity", is intended to introduce viewers to the people Cooper has met and photographed on five continents and across diverse geographies, cultures and ways of life.
Since 2015, Cooper's work has been exhibited in more than 50 juried group gallery shows in the United States and Europe receiving Best in Show, Best Portrait, Director's Choice, Artistic Excellence and Honorable Mention awards. Cooper has presented five solo exhibitions and his photographs have been published in consumer magazines, newspapers and photography journals including New Mexico Magazine, LensWork, Black & White, Shadow & Light, AAP, New York Post, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Los Angeles Time and others. His books include Pleased to Meet You: Portraits from Places Near & Far (2017) and We Are Santa (2020).
He is represented by Gallery Photiq, Royal Leamington Spa, England.
Presentation: Making Compelling Travel Portraits addresses my philosophy and approach to travel portraiture, trip planning, portrait techniques specific to travel, equipment, workflow and an example of one of my overseas projects.
