Club Meeting

When: Tuesday January 14, 2020 @6:00pm (social) @6:30pm (meeting)
Topic: "Intellectual Property Issues for Photographers" by Brian Hanning
Short Topic: "Frost on Windows" by Joan Sayre
Meeting Notes - Meeting Slides
Where: Aztlan Center, 112 E Willow Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524 (Room Eagle 1)

Club Outing

Organizers: Paul Marcoux and Guy Turenne
Date: January 25, 2020 Time: 10:00 am to early afternoon
Location: Butterfly House at the Gardens on Spring Creek
Admission: Non-members fee Adults $11, Adult 65+/Military $9
The Butterfly House hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at this time of year. Currently there are Monarchs and Painted Ladies butterflies. There will be many more species by the date of the club outing. Additional information will be shared at the January club meeting.
Specifics on the Photoshoot: North American Butterfly species are there. Tripods are not allowed. However, monopods and flash are allowed. The Butterfly Pavilion owns the Butterfly House so we expect that photographers will need to follow the same restrictions as they have at the pavilion. At our club meeting Guy reported that the humidity level and temperature are such that lens fogging is highly likely even when great care is taken with one’s camera. If the number of photo-shoot attendees is greater than 15 we will be asked to split up into two groups.
- Hope to see you at this outing.
UPDATE: Winter rates. Admission to the Gardens on Spring Creek is half price right now. We expect a little more Butterfly House traffic as we run this special.

SIG Meetings/Outings

Portrait SIG shoot
Sun 1/5 @1:00pm at Mike's Studio, theme is "Little Black Dress"

Conceptual SIG Shoot
Sun 1/26 @1pm at Kai's Studio
January's meeting (Jan 26th, 2020) will be a shoot - We will have 2 models, Alexis and Mandy, becoming statues - fully covered in Clay Slip. It will be messy! This will be shot in my studio. I would like to start at noon, just so I know we will have enough time. This is a project that Jennifer Thoerson did originally, in a class that I just bought on Creative Live. I have the class and can play part of it at the Nov. meeting as well. The cost of the materials needed to do this will amount to $67.96 which is more than I can afford on my own. So, if you are planning on attending this shoot, please let me know and I will ask group members to chip in $10-15 each to help cover the costs. I am also going to ask Mirelle if she has any headpieces that would work with this project as well.

Our next Video SIG meeting is planned for Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at my house, 8325 Turman Court, Fort Collins, Colorado 80525. Here is the agenda: 1. General sharing: Did you get something special for Christmas for taking or processing videos? Did you get some great Christmas videos? Please share anything you would like - your videos, new toys, or a favorite old tool you use for videos. For sharing videos you may bring it on a thumb drive or we can find it on YouTube. 2. Need help? If you have a project you need help with, please bring it and there may be someone in the group who can help. I can help with iMovie and Final Cut Pro (a little, still learning FCP). 3. Maps - last meeting way back in September we discussed where to get maps for using in presentations on travel. Several suggestions were made including Wikipedia Commons, Google photos, and Google Earth Pro. I have done a little more research which I can share with you. If anyone else has something to share, let's do that as well. I can also repeat the demonstration on how to make a video zooming in on a location using Google Earth Pro desktop app. 4. Discuss future meetings - agendas and dates. Current dates I am available are February 4, April 7, May 5, July 7 (maybe), September 8, November 10, December 8 (e.g. not March, June, August and October - will be travelling.) Continuing the Video SIG will also depend on interest level so hope to see you this month. Please bring ideas for topics you would like to cover and possibly lead for future meetings.
Hope to see you Tuesday,
Judy
