SIG Meetings/Outings

Tue 4/2 6:30pm - Video SIG meeting
Agenda for April 2, 2019: Meet at Judy's house, 8325 Turman Court, Ft. Collins, 80525 Meeting time: 6:30 to 8 pm 1. Introductions and sharing: Each person introduce themselves and, if they want to, something about what they have been doing with video along with a brief example, e.g. video of 3 minutes or less. Note: if you have an IOS device (e.g. iPhone, iPad, etc. you might be able to share your video on my big screen TV using my Apple TV - it works sometimes.) Or if you have an HDMI cable adapter for your device that might work. Or if you post to Facebook, YouTube, etc. we might be able to use my MacBookPro to share from there. Or we can just look over your shoulder on your device. Whatever works for you... . 2. Group discussion on how to best share your videos. Generally files are too large to send attached to an email, so some options include: YouTube, Vimeo, DropBox, Adobe Cloud, iCloud, iTunes, Facebook, etc. There are probably more. I have used some of these and can share my experience but would also like to hear from others on what works for them. I can show a demonstration in iMovie on how to share those files and what options are available there. 3. Continue learning iMovie on the Mac: Briefly review of what we covered last meeting. Demo of some new tools for editing in the timeline: Trim & slip edit tools, fine tune clips, split, insert and connect clips 4. Next meeting is planned for May 7. Discuss topics for that meeting.

Sat 4/20 - Macro SIG meeting at CSU in the Clark building "small antiques"
Date: Saturday, April 20, 2019
Location: CSU Clark Building Room C-256
Set up time: 9:00 to 9:30 am
Photo-Shoot: 9:30 am to about noon
Directions and Parking: Take College Ave. to W. Pitkin Street. There is a traffic light at the intersection of College and Pitkin. The suggested parking lot is on the north side W. Pitkin Street. It is about 0.2 miles west of College. The Clark Building is northeast of the N.E. corner of the parking lot. The Clark Building colors are burgundy and tan. About 100 feet from the parking lot is the Clark Building courtyard. Enter Clark (Building C) at the south end of courtyard. On entering the building turn left. The stairs are a short distance from the entrance. There is an elevator, which is located in the northeast corner of building C. Conference room C-256 is directly above the courtyard entrance. The north wall of the room has windows. The room lighting is fluorescent. Macro photo-shoot is Goldies, small antiques. Deborah Cowan will be bringing her antiques and others are welcome to bring their antiques to photograph. There will be a light table as well as backdrops (white, black and light blue). The suggested lens is a macro but other lenses are suitable for close up photography. Since the lighting is mixed, flash is likely to be helpful. Tripods are also suggested. Looking forward to seeing you at the photo-shoot. - Paul Marcoux

Sat 4/27 @6:30am - Wildlife SIG outing to Lathom Reservoir
As I mentioned at the club meeting last week, I would be keeping tabs on migratory birds showing up at Latham Reservoir for the Wildlife SIG outing date. I was at Lathom this past Saturday and found several of the earlier arriving birds had started to arrive; Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Avocets, Cinnamon and Blue-winged Teal along with some other resident species. In the past two to three days additional migrating shorebirds have begun to show up in nearby bird sighting reports. To allow for more birds to show up, the outing will be Saturday the 27th. Lathom Reservoir is about a 35/40 minute drive. For carpooling, meet at the standard location - the northeast corner of the Harmony Transportation Center. Lets meet at 6:30 a.m. As always, let me know if you plan on joining us at the Harmony Transportation Center so no one is left behind. This is not an all day outing. Typically lighting starts getting pretty harsh by 9:30 or so depending on any cloud cover. So I am typically back to FC by 11:00. - Guy
