2012-06-12 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in our new meeting room at Ridgeview Classical School
Ridgeview Classical School on the southeast corner of Lemay and Stuart (1800 S. Lemay) Enter through the east side of the building.

We had several visitors at the meeting tonight, Beverly and Stephanie, please welcome them to our club.

Carol Coffee is recovering from hip replacement surgery at the recovery center on the North West corner of Lemay and Stuart, just across the intersection from our meeting facility. Carol says "hello" and she is doing fine.

Please pay your dues for 2012 to Rich Ernst if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18.

Check out what the SIGs (Special Interest Groups), they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

We shot graduation photographs for Ridgeview Classical School, and it went well.

The Old Town Model Shoot last month went well. If you haven't already sent your pictures to Mike, please send them directly to the models. The model addresses are on the model releases that are on the website.

This Saturday, 6/16, our club will be giving a program on "Night time photography". Please come help if you have the time. We can always use more members to help audience members figure out how to work their cameras.

This month's evening outing will be Monday 6/18 at the CSU gardens to photograph the flowers.

This month's coffee outing will be Tuesday 6/19 at 9am at the Fort Collins Coffee House, 3781 Mason St.

Thursday 6/28 evening our club will meet at Mulligan's Pub on College for the travel slideshow and food and drink and talk. Send your pictures to Dawn at least several days before the meeting so she has a chance to add them to the show.

The hummingbird photography opportunity in Redstone Canyon may be cancelled due to the Fire.

The June outing to shoot rafters in the Poudre Canyon has been delayed for another week, until Saturday 6/23. Keep watching the website for updates. The fire conditions may require further delays. Meet at the King Soopers on North College at 8am.

Your event photography mentors are: Harry Strharsky, Mike Barry, and Steve Finnestead. They are happy to answer your questions regarding sports and event photography.

Ride the Rockies will end its final leg in Fort Collins at 2pm on Friday at Odell's Brewery.

We have a 5K race in Old Town this weekend, 8am Sunday, Remington and Mountain.

The Fort Laramie Rendezvous is this weekend, Friday-Saturday-Sunday, at Fort Laramie in Wyoming.

LPS has scheculed an outing to Crested Butte on July 12-15 to photograph wildflowers and they have invited our members to join them.
