Macro SIG meeting minutes for January 4, 2012
We had 12 attendees last night and the meeting included a lot of enthusiasm. We showed our holiday macro assignment pictures and discussed equipment (show and tell) and developed a plan for how we will conduct the February Macro outing.
The February outing will be at CSU in our old normal meeting room. The tables in the lab will be just right for Macro table to activities. We will be setting up 8 tables for specific assignments. Please contact me to volunteer to man a table.
1. High speed photography - Ken will bring a plastic bag to drip water into a dish and we will capture drops hitting water. He only has a Nikon setup. If anyone has the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 that will allow hyper synch with all cameras please bring them. Otherwise we will have a limited Nikon activity at this table. You Canon users might check your speed lights and cameras for hyper synch capability. Mike says he can use his new Yiongbuo YN 560 flash units for this on any camera. Mike please bring you unit(s). Do they require special cabling to specific cameras? Members might need to bring the own cables??? (Mike's Yongnuo flashes are triggered by infrared flash from your cameras, Sony, Canon or Nikon)
2. Oil drops on water - Mike Barry will set this up. This was a very successful activity at the last macro outing. It gives one of the most beautiful effects I\'ve ever seen.
3. Helicon Focus - we need a volunteer for this since Ken is doing the High Speed table. This presentation will require the software and a laptop. Ken can provide the laptop with the Helicon Focus software if someone else can operate it for the members that want to try it out.
4.Flowers/objects with a light tent - need a volunteer with a light tent
5. flowers/objects with back light - need a volunteer with off camera flash and a black cloth for a background.
6. copy photography- David will set up a copy stand. Members should bring small prints to be copied.
7. copy slides - need a volunteer with a slide copy setup 8 using a reverse lens and other alternative macro setups - Bob will show us how these work.
We ended the night with a Helicon Focus demo.
